+Nintalian Betela (NB)+
A sport that originated from the Ancient Nintaliese. It was created long ago with the intention of lessening the war between the Yin and Yang division of the race. It is widely popular, and culture has sprung up around the game creating a way of life.
+Object+
Score as many goals as possible to gain the most points for your team.
+Playing Field+
200yds long X 75yds wide. Usually in a stadium similar to that of football.
Goals: 2 at each end, 2 in the middle on either side of the field.
+Teams+
2-4 teams on a field at once. 4 teams only on special fields. 8-16 playable pairs on the field per team.
+Means+
Each player pair has their own "Jiiya" which is a staff/weapon/etc. which they use to control the various balls by chanelling their elemental power through their Jiiya. This requires the elemental skills and strength, as some balls are harder to handle than others.
+Goals+
All goals are diamond shaped.
-End Goals: These goals provide the most points. They are 10 yards wide. If you score, it is worth 5 or 10 points depending on where it was hit from and how. 10 points is 50 yards or less from the goal. 5 points is over 50 yards away. This is because it is relatively easy to score from far away as a scorer can control the ball without having to worry about fellow players or defense. If the ball is not controlled then it is worth more points, and an additional 2 for however far away it is.
-Middle Goals: Do not provide as much points. 5 yards wide. If scored in these goals, it is worth 2 points. The middle goals are mainly used as tie breakers.
+Ball Differences+
-Ar; No additional points if scored with. Very light (floats) and is easy to control and steal. Medium size; bright red; associated with the Fire element. It is the standard NB ball.
-Ka; 1 additional point if scored with. Heavier than an Ar, it requires a bit more strength to control, but is very hard to steal. Larger size; bright blue; associated with the Water and Sky element.
-Se; 2 additional points if scored with. Extremely heavy and hard to control, but easy to steal. Very large; dark purple; associated with the Dark element.
-Da; 3 additional points if scored with. Extremely light and incredibilly quick and resilient. This ball is nearly impossible to fully control, and if it is controlled, only a select few have the ability to seal it, otherwise it is relatively easy to steal. Small size; bright green and yellow; associated with the Earth element.
+Players+
There is a minimum of 8 pairs and a max of 16 per team. Each pair consists of either an Ania & Aperse, a Rikal & Ania, a Rikal & Aperse, or Rikal & Rikal because Rikals can usually either be an Ania or Aperse. One rides, the other is ridden. (an Ania is like an animal, an Aperse is like a human, and a Rikal is both) The Aperse is the main component to the pair who does the scoring/passing/blocking/stealing/etc. The Ania's job is for direction (though it is also guided by its Aperse), maneuvering, and it also can block/steal/etc, though this isn't used often and only in bigger or more advanced teams.
+Roles of Players+
-Goal Keeper; A sky Nin is preffered. (there are 4 types of Nintaliese, Land, Water, Sky, and Mixed) Their job is to bock and protect the goals. 1 pair per goal. (each team has 2 goals; an end & a middle)
-Lemaiya; Head of the team. Usually a mixed Nin. Directs movement and plays; main scorer. There can be up to 4 Lemaiyas on one team, though there is only one Head Lemaiya out of them.
-Scorer; Minimum of 5 scorers, max of 8. Job is to score by any means necessary.
-Stealer; Minimum of 2, max of 5. Job is to steal the balls and pass to the scorers.
-Misc; All player pairs are not confined to their roles. They can share parts, but need to stick mainly to their job and work as a team. To steal a ball, other balls can knock the ball that an opposing player is controlling to make it available to control. More agressive players can also use a ball to hit another player. This is allowed. The matches can easily turn violent, especially if a Yin and Yang team are versing each other.
+Time Frame+
4 quaters. Half an hour each quater. If there is a tie at the end of a quarter, a 'sudden death' between the Head Lemaiyas occurs. The middle goals are used then.
+Lifestyle+
In the 5 Nintalian planets (one to each element: earth; Limiak, water; Draxaiya, dark; Zios, Sky; Heckeiza, and Fire; Hetzei), the NB players are considered as celebrities and role models. The media and paparazii are almost always present to catch the latest gossip and scandals among the various teams, which of course can get very annoying for most of the players.
-Fortacia: The name of the headquters of an NB team. For normal teams, it is really just a place where the teammates live. However, for each planet there is a main NB team, and there is also a main NB team out of the Yins and Yangs. The more prestigeous the team, the larger the Fortacia. For the extremely large and popular teams such as Team Konaiya's Fortacia, it can be the size of a city and can house and protect many inside it. Many communities lie inside or around the Fortacias. They are like cities, with their own schools, hospitals especially (the NB games oftentimes get rough), marketplace, dorms, villages, etc.
-Roles: In addition to playing NB, the teammates have additional roles among the planet. The players also serve as the planet's law force, most of its army, and keeper of the peace and such. They preform many services, as NB games are held pretty long apart from each other and the players differ, especially with the larger teams (such as with Konaiya and Raquoiya) who have hundreds of members in their fortacias. Of couse there are only a certain amount of players that belong to the main team which are considered the best of the best.
-Rank: The NB players hold very high ranks among the Nin planets. The ranks on the planets are as follows: Emperor(or Empress), Head Lemaiya of the head NB team, Head Lemaiya of the second-rank NB team, the Emperor or Empress' spouse and children, other council persons, head NB team's other Lemaiyas, second-rank NB team's other Lemaiyas, etc...you get the idea, they're important.
-New Members/Rank: It oftentimes can come that a new Lemaiya or a new player must be choosen or inducted into the team. Every year, a sort of tournament or festival is held in the Fortacias in that only one or two player pairs out of thousands will be chosen to be a part of the team. As for new Lemaiyas, the previous Lemaiya will choose who their apprentice would be to go after them if anything should happen to them.
+Nintalian Ways+
The world of the Nintalians is very treacherous and rather sad. The average lifespan is only 50 years at the oldest and normally up to 30. This is because of the constant war between the evil Yins and the more peace-loving Yangs. (Yang is good, Yin is bad! lol) Elderly are not a very common site, as they are quickly murdered and considered weak. It is relatively rare for a Nin to have an extended family, as the Yins search relentlesly for blood and to make the Yangs miserable, in which they find much enjoyment. Still having a mother and father or siblings especially outside of a Fortacia is very rare. In addition to the merciless slaughter, disease is also present in areas that do not have access to a Fortacia. Disease is common especially on sections in the earth planet Limiak, as there are two sides to the planet; one that still thrives on tradition without technology and modern medicine; and one that has many advances in technology.
Because of the short lifespan and such, it is considered that one should give birth at least at age of 18, and sometimes even as young as 14! It is uncommon for one not to be married above the age of 16, especially in the upper ranks.
